Bhubaneswar, (Reporterspen), July 30: In a shocking and tragic incident in Berhampur, Ganjam district, a couple reportedly attempted suicide due to distress caused by their son’s alleged fraudulent activities. The son had reportedly collected significant amounts of money from various individuals, promising them jobs, and then disappeared.
The victims had been under immense pressure from those who had been cheated by their son, who frequently visited the couple’s home demanding repayment. Unable to bear the mounting pressure and shame, the couple chose to take drastic measures.
The mother succumbed to her injuries on the way to the hospital, where she was declared dead upon arrival. The father remains in critical condition and is being treated at MKCG Medical College and Hospital in Berhampur.
Berhampur Town police have launched an investigation into the incident, and a manhunt is underway for the missing son. The incident has sent shockwaves throughout the state, highlighting the severe impact of financial fraud on victims and their families.
