Bhubaneswar, (Reporterspen), Aug 1: In response to recent reports of a Tsunami threat to Odisha, the office of the Special Relief Commissioner (SRC) has clarified that no such alert has been issued. “We have not issued any Tsunami alert,” the SRC stated, emphasizing that reports circulating on local channels are unfounded.
The India Meteorological Department has forecasted heavy to very heavy rainfall in Odisha on August 1 and 2. Light to moderate rain is expected to continue across various parts of the state until August 6.
On August 1, a yellow warning has been issued for heavy to very heavy rainfall (7 to 20 cm) in parts of Angul, Dhenkanal, Cuttack, Boudh, Sonepur, and Sambalpur. Heavy rainfall (7 to 11 cm) may also affect several districts including Bhadrak, Balasore, Jajpur, Kendrapada, Jharsuguda, Bargarh, Balangir, Nuapada, Nayagarh, Khurda, Jagatsinghpur, Sundargarh, Deogarh, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, and Kalahandi.
Earlier, the weather agency had also warned of intense rain in some parts of Cuttack city, which could lead to waterlogging in low-lying areas, reduced visibility, and traffic disruptions. Residents are advised to monitor weather updates and take necessary precautions.
