Bhubaneswar, (Reporterspen), Aug 16: Pramod Nayak, the headmaster of Balishankara Higher Secondary School in Sundargarh district, Odisha, was suspended on Friday following serious allegations of sexual harassment made by students.

The accusations include claims that Nayak made inappropriate gestures and remarks towards students.

In response to these allegations, girl students staged a road blockade, protesting against the headmaster’s alleged misconduct. The demonstration drew the attention of District Welfare Officer Pabitra Mohan Pradhan, who arrived at the protest site in the afternoon. After discussions with students and officials, Pradhan ordered Nayak’s immediate suspension.

Students reported that they had previously informed teachers and school officials about the issue, but no action was taken, prompting them to organize the protest. The students’ protest involved sitting on the main road, demanding swift action against Nayak. An inquiry into the allegations has now been initiated to further investigate the claims.
