Chief Minister felicitates hockey star Amit Rohidas following Olympic success

Bhubaneswar, (Reporterspen), Aug 16: Odisha’s hockey star Amit Rohidas was warmly felicitated by Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi upon his return from the Paris Olympics, where he played a pivotal role in securing a bronze medal for the Indian Men’s hockey team.

The special event, attended by numerous dignitaries including state ministers, saw the Chief Minister express hope that India will clinch a gold medal in the next Olympics with Rohidas’s continued contributions.

Majhi praised Rohidas as a beacon of inspiration for the youth and assured that the Odisha government will provide substantial support to hockey to enhance India’s chances of winning more international accolades.

Earlier, Rohidas received a grand welcome in Bhubaneswar. As the sole Odia player on the bronze medal-winning Indian team, he was honored by various organizations for his significant role in the team’s success in Paris.

Hailing from Saunamara village in Sundargarh district, Rohidas was greeted by fans, family, and officials at the Biju Patnaik International Airport. The Odisha government has announced a cash reward of Rs 4 crore for Rohidas, while Indian hockey team players will receive Rs 15 lakh each and support staff Rs 10 lakh each.
