Bhubaneswar, (Reporterspen), Aug 19: Labour and Employees State Insurance Minister Ganesh Ram Singkhuntia announced on Monday that workers from Odisha stranded in Bangladesh amid the country’s ongoing turmoil will soon return to their home state.
Singkhuntia expressed the state government’s concern over the situation in Bangladesh, especially in light of recent crimes against Hindus. In response to the crisis, the Chief Minister has convened a meeting to develop a plan for repatriating the Odia workers.
The minister revealed that a list of workers who had officially relocated from Odisha to Bangladesh is being compiled by district labor authorities. Once this database is reviewed, further actions will be taken.
“After consultations with district officials, the issue will be presented to the Chief Minister within two weeks. We will work with Bangladeshi authorities to ensure the return of workers whose records are missing,” Singkhuntia stated.
