Bhubaneswar, (Repoterspen), Aug 21; The Indian hockey team, fresh from securing a bronze medal at the Paris Olympics 2024, received a grand reception upon arriving in Bhubaneswar on Wednesday. Enthusiastic crowds, including sports fans and locals, gathered at Biju Patnaik International Airport (BPIA) to welcome the players. The team was greeted with cheers and excitement as they exited the airport.
Following their arrival, the hockey team embarked on a spectacular roadshow from BPIA to Kalinga Stadium. The players traveled in a specially decorated bus, while hundreds of motorcyclists joined the parade, celebrating the team’s achievement. The roadshow featured vibrant displays of Odisha’s cultural heritage, with traditional music, drum beats, and performances of Chhau, Ghumura, and other tribal dance forms.
A large crowd lined the route, waving and cheering as the team members reciprocated the warm welcome. Later in the day, Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi is scheduled to felicitate the team for their outstanding performance in Paris.
Officials praised the hockey team for their remarkable achievement, noting that their success has brought pride to India and inspired countless young athletes.
