Bhubaneswar, (Reporterspen), Aug 27: As of now, Odisha has reported 2,759 confirmed dengue cases out of 70,000 tests conducted, according to Public Health Director Dr. Nilakantha Mishra.
Dr. Mishra highlighted that Sundargarh district has recorded the highest number of dengue cases, with 865 individuals testing positive. Khordha district follows with 837 cases, including over 500 cases specifically from Bhubaneswar.
Dr. Mishra attributed the rise in cases to the unusually high rainfall this year, which creates ideal conditions for mosquito breeding. He warned that the number of dengue cases may continue to increase as the monsoon persists.
Despite the surge, Dr. Mishra assured that the government has implemented proactive measures for prevention and awareness. These measures include public health campaigns and mosquito control programs designed to curb the spread of the disease and mitigate its impact on affected communities. The health department remains vigilant and continues to monitor the situation closely.
