Fresh low-pressure area to bring heavy rain and thunderstorms across Odisha

Bhubaneswar, (Reporters Pen): Sept 4: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) announced on Wednesday that Odisha is expected to experience heavy rainfall as a new low-pressure area forms over the Bay of Bengal. The low-pressure system is forecasted to develop over west-central and adjoining northwest Bay of Bengal around September 5 (Thursday), influenced by the current cyclonic circulation over coastal Andhra Pradesh and surrounding regions.

Over the next four days, various parts of Odisha will likely see a wet spell due to this weather system.
Weather Forecast:

September 5: Heavy rain (7 to 11 cm) and thunderstorms with lightning are expected at isolated locations in Malkangiri, Koraput, Nabarangpur, Kalahandi, Balangir, Nuapada, Rayagada, Ganjam, and Gajapati. A yellow warning has been issued for these areas. Thunderstorms with lightning are also likely in Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapada, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Khurda, and Nayagarh.

September 6: Heavy rain (7 to 11 cm) and thunderstorms with lightning may occur at isolated places in Puri, Khurda, Nayagarh, Ganjam, Gajapati, Jagatsinghpur, Cuttack, Rayagada, Koraput, Nabarangpur, Kalahandi, and Kandhamal. A yellow warning is in effect for these districts.

September 7: Heavy rain (7 to 11 cm) and thunderstorms with lightning are forecasted for isolated areas in Puri, Jagatsinghpur, Khurda, Cuttack, Kendrapada, Jajpur, Angul, Dhenkanal, and Nayagarh.
