Odisha to establish textile park in Bhadrak

Bhubaneswar, (Reporterspen), Sept 6: The Odisha Government plans to establish a textile plant in Bhadrak district to create employment opportunities for young people, Industries Minister Sampad Chandra Swain announced in the state Assembly on Friday.

In response to a question from Congress MLA Sofia Firdous, Swain detailed the upcoming textile park in Bhadrak. He explained that a mega feed cracker unit will be set up at Paradip, with its by-products utilized in the Bhadrak textile park. This project will be executed in collaboration with Indian Oil Corporation Limited (IOCL).

Swain also emphasized the government’s commitment to boosting employment through increased MSME activity. “The state budget for 2024-25 includes allocations for establishing industrial parks. Additionally, steps are being taken to make engineers self-reliant in line with the MSME Development Policy 2022,” he added.

Notably, in 2023, the state cabinet, led by then-CM Naveen Patnaik, approved an IOCL proposal to invest Rs 58,042 crore in a mega dual feed cracker unit at Paradip.
