Bhubaneswar, (Reporterspen), Sept 6: Hours after his expulsion from the BJD following his resignation from the Rajya Sabha, Sujeet Kumar joined the BJP at the party’s headquarters in New Delhi on Friday.

Union Minister and Sambalpur MP Dharmendra Pradhan, Cuttack MP Bhartruhari Mahtab, and other BJP leaders were present for the event.

Kumar, who was elected to the Rajya Sabha from the BJD in April 2020, addressed the media, alleging that he had faced threats and been pressured to comply with certain party demands over the past few years. “I was systematically sidelined within the party.

BJD leaders at both district and state levels were involved in corruption totaling thousands of crores, which hampered development in Kalahandi. Evidence of this will be made public soon. I resigned from the BJD to uphold my self-respect and serve the interests of Kalahandi,” Kumar stated.

He also mentioned that the expulsion letter from the BJD was issued after he had already resigned from the party.
