Odisha Government extends opportunities for ex-Agniveers with new recruitment rules

Bhubaneswar, (Reporterspen), Sept 12: The Odisha Cabinet today approved several significant measures, including the transfer of equity shares to Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone Limited (APSEZ). The shares will be transferred from Shapoorji Pallonji Port Maintenance Private Limited and Odisha Stevedores Limited to APSEZ.

The Cabinet also sanctioned the signing of a Revised Concession Agreement between the Directorate of Ports & IWT, the C&T Department, and Gopalpur Ports Ltd (GPL), facilitating the development and expansion of Gopalpur Ports Ltd.

Additionally, the Cabinet approved the Odisha Ex-Agniveers (Recruitment to Uniform Services) Rules, 2024. These new rules will provide ex-Agniveers with opportunities to secure jobs in uniformed services such as Police, Forest, Excise, and Fire services. The Cabinet also approved a 10% horizontal reservation for ex-Agniveers in all Group ‘C’ and ‘D’ posts in direct recruitment, in addition to existing ex-servicemen reservations, provided they meet the necessary qualifications.

The Cabinet also amended the OCS(RA) Rules, 2020, to now include married daughters and step-daughters of deceased government servants for compassionate appointments, as long as they can prove dependency on their parents. Previously, only unmarried daughters and step-daughters were eligible for such appointments.
