Bhubaneswar, (Reporterspen), Sept 16: The Odisha government on Sunday transferred Re 1 to the bank accounts of Subhadra Yojana applicants as part of a trial to verify account authenticity and ensure smooth disbursement of funds.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to officially launch the scheme in Bhubaneswar on his birthday, September 17. Beneficiaries who applied by September 15 will receive their first installment of Rs 5,000 on the launch day.
Deputy Chief Minister Pravati Parida assured that those who register after the deadline will also receive assistance once their application process is complete. She emphasized that the registration process will remain open until all eligible women are enrolled, adding, “There’s no need to worry; those applying after September 17 will still get their funds.”
To date, around 60 lakh women have applied for the scheme, with the government aiming to enroll at least 1 crore women in this women-focused initiative led by Chief Minister Mohan Majhi.
“The Re 1 transfer today was a trial step to ensure the funds reach the correct beneficiaries and to prevent misuse. As a woman, I believe these funds will be used wisely,” said Parida. She highlighted that the scheme will empower women across Odisha, aligning with Prime Minister Modi’s vision of women-centric development.
