Bhubaneswar, (Reporterspen), Sept 17: Director General of Police (DGP) Y.B. Khurania today ordered a Crime Branch investigation into allegations of custodial misconduct and molestation involving an Army Major’s fiancée at Bharatpur police station in Bhubaneswar. The DGP has also instructed the withdrawal of the complaint against her.

The incident reportedly occurred early Sunday morning when the Army officer, stationed in West Bengal, and his fiancée went to Bharatpur police station to file a complaint about a road rage incident. The couple claims they were violently assaulted by on-duty officers. They allege that the police not only mistreated them but also attempted to cover up their actions by falsely accusing them of assaulting and misbehaving with the staff.

According to the couple, a verbal altercation ensued when they requested prompt action and demanded to speak with higher authorities. The situation escalated, with the Major allegedly being detained in a lockup and his fiancée being taken to a secluded room by a female officer, where she was reportedly assaulted, stripped, and molested. The IIC of Bharatpur police station is also alleged to have threatened her with rape.
