Bhubaneswar, (Reporterspen), Sept 19: Popular Sambalpuri singer Ruksana Bano passed away on Wednesday night while receiving treatment at AIIMS-Bhubaneswar.
According to Ruksana’s mother, the singer fell ill after consuming some juice while filming a music video at the Balangir bus stand about 15 days ago. Her condition worsened rapidly, leading to facial swelling. She was initially admitted to a hospital in Bhawanipatna on August 27.
Following preliminary treatment, she was transferred to Bhima Bhoi Medical College and Hospital in Balangir, and subsequently to a private hospital in Bargarh as her health continued to decline.
Despite being moved to AIIMS-Bhubaneswar for further care, Ruksana’s condition did not improve, and she passed away during treatment.
While the cause of death is suspected to be scrub typhus, Ruksana’s family has alleged that another Sambalpuri singer may have poisoned her. AIIMS authorities have not yet issued an official statement regarding the case.
