Bhubaneswar, (Reporterspen), Sept 27: (Odisha CM)During the Collectors’ Conference in Bhubaneswar on Friday, Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi recounted an incident from a few months prior to the 2024 elections when he was still an MLA. He referred to his experience with the Inspector-in-Charge (IIC) of Keonjhar police station to illustrate how conditions have improved under the BJP government.

Majhi recalled being informed that locals had blocked NH 20 over drinking water issues and rushed to the scene. Upon arrival, he faced hostility from the IIC, who shouted, “get out,” questioning his right to visit the police station. “Who pressured the IIC to act this way? Do candidates lack the right to visit a police station?” he questioned.

The Chief Minister, who later assumed the role of Chief Minister and headed the Home Department, expressed understanding for the IIC’s actions, believing they were made under pressure. He emphasized the importance of treating citizens respectfully at police stations, particularly when they come to file complaints.

Majhi asserted that many practices from the previous government would no longer be tolerated. He urged officials to support lower-level employees and take decisive action against illegal mineral smuggling in the state.
