Police Commissioner : Bhubaneswar, (Reporterspen), Sept 30: Senior IPS officer Suresh Dev Datta Singh officially took charge as the Commissioner of Police (CP) for the Bhubaneswar-Cuttack Commissionerate on Monday afternoon. Singh, a 1998-batch IPS officer, succeeds Sanjeeb Panda, who has been transferred to the position of ADG (Training) and Director of the Biju Patnaik State Police Academy (BPSPA). Panda had only served as CP for nine months.
Previously, Singh held the position of ADG (Operations), where he was responsible for addressing the Maoist threat in the state.
Upon assuming his new role, Singh was honored with a guard of honor at the Commissionerate Police headquarters before taking over from Panda. “Today, I have officially assumed charge as CP for the twin cities. I will conduct a review of the law and order situation and work with my team to develop a comprehensive roadmap. The public expects effective crime prevention and timely justice in cases of crime. We will treat those coming to us with grievances with respect, and the Commissionerate Police is open to suggestions for improvement,” Singh emphasized, highlighting the importance of compassionate and sensitive policing.
He also issued a warning of stringent action against individuals undermining law and order and causing disturbances in society.
