Bharatpur Case: Bhubaneswar, (Reporterspen), Oct 5: The Judicial Commission investigating the alleged assault of an Army officer and his fiancée at Bharatpur police station in Bhubaneswar has issued notifications and invited affidavits regarding the case. According to sources, the Commission of Inquiry is seeking open affidavits from various stakeholders, including the complainants, police officials, and the general public, to collect information and clues related to the incident.

Chaired by Justice (Retd) Chitta Ranjan Dash, a former judge of the Orissa and Calcutta High Courts, the commission began its inquiry on Monday. The commission is currently operating from its office in the Special Circuit House in Bhubaneswar, and has accelerated its efforts by issuing necessary notifications and soliciting affidavits from relevant parties.

The state government has already outlined the terms of reference for the Commission of Inquiry. Following the nationwide outrage over the alleged custodial assault, Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi ordered the judicial probe last week. The Commission has been tasked with submitting its report within 60 days.
