DGP Odisha: DGP assures serious follow-up on alleged rape of Odia woman in Delhi

DGP Odisha:Bhubaneswar, (Reporterspen), Oct 14: The alleged rape of an Odia woman in Delhi has sparked widespread outrage in Odisha, prompting a serious response from the state’s authorities. Director General of Police (DGP) Y B Khurania stated that the Odisha Police is handling the situation with utmost seriousness and sensitivity.

He confirmed that police are in regular contact with the survivor’s family and are coordinating with their counterparts in Delhi to monitor the progress of the investigation.

To assist the family, arrangements have been made to facilitate their travel from Bhubaneswar to Delhi. Meanwhile, Vishal Gagan, the Resident Commissioner of Odisha in Delhi, reported that a senior female official is in direct communication with the survivor and local law enforcement.

According to reports, the woman’s family traveled to New Delhi shortly after the incident came to light. The 34-year-old victim was allegedly raped and discovered in a semi-conscious state at Sarai Kale Khan on October 11. Police revealed that she had been living on the streets of Delhi after being asked to leave her previous residence at Katwaria Sarai due to a dispute in August.
