Weather News:Bhubaneswar, (Reporterspen), Oct 15: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecasted that light to moderate rain will continue in Odisha until October 21. On Tuesday, the IMD issued a yellow warning for several areas in the state on October 17 and 18 due to the expected intensification of a well-marked low-pressure area over the Bay of Bengal into a depression within the next 24 hours.
As per the midday bulletin, the well-marked low-pressure area over the central part of the south Bay of Bengal remained in the same location as of 8:30 AM. It is anticipated to move west-northwest and develop into a depression over the southwest Bay of Bengal within the next day. The system is expected to continue its movement towards the coasts of north Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, and adjoining south Andhra Pradesh over the following 24 hours.
The IMD also noted a cyclonic circulation over the west-central Bay of Bengal off the south coastal Andhra Pradesh. A yellow warning has been issued for isolated thunderstorms with lightning in the following districts: Gajapati, Ganjam, Rayagada, Koraput, Malkangiri, Mayurbhanj, and Keonjhar on October 17; and Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapada, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Khurda, Nayagarh, Ganjam, Gajapati, Kandhamal, Kalahandi, Rayagada, Nabarangpur, Koraput, and Malkangiri on October 18.
