Cyclone Dana: Bhubaneswar, (Reporterspen),  Oct 25: As Cyclone Dana left a trail of destruction after making landfall in Bhitarkanika, Odisha’s Kendrapada district, authorities quickly launched restoration and relief operations in the affected areas. Teams from the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), Odisha Disaster Rapid Action Force (ODRAF), and Odisha Fire Service were deployed across various coastal districts to restore normalcy by clearing uprooted trees that blocked roads.

Restoration efforts were prioritized in districts such as Bhadrak, Kendrapada, Balasore, and Jagatsinghpur, which faced severe impacts from the cyclonic storm that struck the coast late Thursday night. The landfall process was completed by Friday morning.

NDRF teams worked diligently to remove fallen trees in different villages, particularly in Dhamra, Bhadrak, where turbulent seas, strong winds, and heavy rainfall were reported. Additional District Magistrate Shantanu Mohanty confirmed that evacuations had already taken place in vulnerable areas, ensuring the safety of residents in cyclone shelters.

Minister of Higher Education and Sports Suryabanshi Suraj, who was present in Bhadrak to oversee the response efforts, noted that while wind speeds have decreased after landfall, rain continues to fall in the region. He assured that electricity supply and other essential services were being restored as quickly as possible.
