Odisha News: Bhubaneswar, (Reporterspen), Oct 30: The Odisha government is preparing to distribute new ration cards to beneficiaries starting next month, as announced by Food Supplies and Consumer Welfare Minister Krushna Chandra Patra on Wednesday. This initiative follows the completion of scrutiny for over ten lakh applications submitted by residents seeking new ration cards.

Officials have been engaged in verifying the e-KYC (Electronic Know Your Customer) of applicants to ensure the integrity of the process. The government previously indicated that it would eliminate ineligible beneficiaries from the roster of ration card holders under the Food Security Act to streamline the distribution.

To determine eligibility, the government has established 12 criteria for inclusion of families who qualify for the new ration cards, while also outlining ten criteria for excluding ineligible households.

Instructions have been issued to relevant officials to thoroughly review and remove any ineligible beneficiaries from the list. This initiative aims to ensure that only deserving families receive the newly issued ration cards, thereby promoting transparency and fairness in the distribution process.
