Odisha Vigilance: Bhubaneswar, (Reporterspen), Nov 7: Odisha Vigilance officials arrested Bijay Kumar Udaysingh, a Junior Manager (Civil) at the Industrial Infrastructure Development Corporation (IDCO), Bhubaneswar, on Thursday, for possessing assets disproportionate to his known sources of income.
The arrest followed searches conducted on his properties, where Vigilance sleuths uncovered several assets that Udaysingh could not explain. These included a four-storey palatial building valued at over Rs. 3.22 crore, a flat, three high-value plots, over Rs. 55.5 lakh in bank deposits, and Rs. 4.5 lakh in cash.
The Vigilance team, led by eight Deputy Superintendents of Police (DSPs), eight inspectors, and other personnel, carried out simultaneous searches at six locations in Bhubaneswar (Khurdha) and Puri, based on search warrants issued by the Special Judge, Vigilance, Bhubaneswar.
Udaysingh failed to justify the origin of these assets, prompting his arrest for possession of disproportionate wealth. He will be produced in court shortly to face charges related to the illicit accumulation of assets.
