crime news: Bhubaneswar, (Reporterspen), Nov 16: In a dramatic turn of events, over Rs 21 lakh allegedly stolen from a company in Hyderabad was recovered from the backyard of a house in Badamandurini village, Balasore district, Odisha.
The theft was carried out by Gopal Behera, a man who had been working at an agro-industry in Hyderabad for nearly a decade. Police revealed that Gopal, who knew the secret code to the company’s locker, stole the money and then handed it over to his brother-in-law. The brother-in-law reportedly sent the money to Gopal’s parents in Jaleswar before returning to Hyderabad.
After the company filed a complaint, a joint investigation was initiated with Hyderabad police, who assisted Odisha police in tracking down the stolen funds. Following an extensive probe, bundles of cash were found buried under the soil in the backyard of Gopal’s house.
Although Gopal remains on the run, his brother-in-law, Rabindra, has been detained in Hyderabad. As of the latest update, approximately Rs 15 lakh has been recovered from the location.
