Odisha news: Bhubaneswar, (Reporterspen), Nov 20: A man and his nephew tragically lost their lives after allegedly consuming spurious alcohol at Sirasta village under Tirtol police limits in Odisha’s Jagatsinghpur district. The deceased were identified as Bibhuti Samal and his nephew Gopabandhu Samal.

According to sources, both men began to experience severe chest pain after returning home. They were initially rushed to the community health center in Patkura, but as their condition worsened, they were transferred to the district headquarters hospital in Kendrapara. Unfortunately, they were declared dead upon arrival.

While the exact cause of death is still under investigation, there is growing suspicion that the deaths were caused by food or beverage poisoning, possibly due to the consumption of adulterated alcohol. Family members confirmed that both men had been drinking throughout the day, which may have contributed to their sudden deterioration.

The police have sent the bodies for a postmortem examination and have initiated an investigation to determine the exact cause of death and whether spurious alcohol was involved. The community remains in shock following the incident.
