PM Modi: Bhubaneswar, (Reporterspen), Nov 29: In a significant advancement for India’s tourism sector, Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced the approval of 40 projects across 23 states under the Special Assistance to States/Union Territories for Capital Investment (SASCI) scheme on Friday.
This initiative aims to develop iconic tourist centers to global standards, promoting sustainable and responsible tourism. Notably, Odisha’s Hirakud and Satkosia have been included in this ambitious plan.
Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi expressed his gratitude to PM Modi for prioritizing the tourism sector in India through the SASCI scheme. In a tweet, he stated, “Odisha is proud to have Hirakud and Satkosia included in this visionary initiative. These projects will undoubtedly elevate Odisha’s prominence on Bharat’s tourism map.”
Culture Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat also shared updates on social media, highlighting that the projects, valued at ₹3,295.76 crore, will stimulate local economies and generate employment opportunities through sustainable tourism practices. Shekhawat emphasized a comprehensive approach, including decongesting popular sites, integrating advanced technologies, and fostering public-private partnerships to enhance infrastructure and visitor experiences. This initiative promises to offer a world-class experience for tourists eager to explore India’s rich natural, cultural, and historical heritage.
