crime news: Bhubaneswar, (Reporterspen), Dec 3: Police have uncovered a sex racket operating from a hotel in the Kalapathar area of Banki, Cuttack district, Odisha. The raid, conducted late Monday night, was led by Priyadarshan Sethi, Inspector-in-Charge (IIC) of Baideswar police station, who posed as a customer to catch the perpetrators red-handed.
During the operation, two youths were detained, and two girls were rescued from the premises. The alleged mastermind of the racket, identified as Bikram Mohapatra, has been detained for questioning. Sources revealed that his wife might also be interrogated for her possible involvement in the illicit activities.
This crackdown comes just days after another sex racket was dismantled in Bhubaneswar’s Madhusudan Nagar under Khandagiri police limits. In that operation, police rescued four girls who had allegedly been trafficked and coerced into the trade.
Authorities are intensifying efforts to root out such illegal activities across the state, with further investigations underway to identify and apprehend other individuals involved in these rackets.
