Odisha Vigilance: Bhubaneswar, (Reporterspen), Dec 4: The Odisha Vigilance has arrested Biswanath Patro, the Assistant Executive Engineer (AEE) of Jeypore Block and in-charge Municipal Engineer of Jeypore Municipality, for allegedly accumulating disproportionate assets worth crores.
Raids conducted on Tuesday revealed that Patro owned substantial assets, including two multi-storey buildings, with one triple-storey structure in Jeypore town valued at approximately Rs 1.55 crore. Authorities discovered he also possessed 18 plots of land, bank deposits exceeding Rs 1.01 crore, 854 grams of gold, and 1.8 kilograms of silver, which he could not satisfactorily explain.
Among the identified assets were a triple-storey building spanning over 7,200 square feet in Jeypore, a double-storey building of over 3,400 square feet in Koli Sahi, Belaguntha, and six plots in prime Bhubaneswar areas.
His total financial holdings included Rs 1,01,00,210 in bank and insurance deposits, gold jewelry, silver ornaments, cash, two motorcycles, and household items worth around Rs 7.70 lakh. Patro, who began as an ad-hoc assistant engineer in 2011, became a regular AEE after passing the OPSC exam in 2016.
