Bhubaneswar, (Reporterspen), Dec 5: A tragic incident occurred in Bhubaneswar on Thursday, where a 22-year-old youth, Shasanka Sekhar Satapathy, was found hanging in his home, reportedly after suffering significant financial losses from online gaming. The incident took place near Tinimundia Chhak in the Badu Sahi area, under the jurisdiction of the Lingaraja police station.
According to sources, Shasanka was discovered hanging from the ceiling by family members, who quickly attempted to rescue him and rushed him to a nearby hospital in critical condition. Unfortunately, medical personnel declared him dead upon arrival.
The Lingaraja police were notified and promptly launched an investigation into the circumstances surrounding Shasanka’s death. A case has been registered, and police have seized his mobile phone for further examination. Preliminary inquiries suggest that the young man experienced considerable financial strain due to his online gaming activities, leading him to take out loans from various individuals to fund his gaming pursuits. The police are continuing their investigation to determine the exact factors that contributed to this tragic event.
