Odisha News: Bhubaneswar, (Reporterspen), Dec 10: Proceedings in the Odisha Assembly were disrupted on Tuesday due to uproar from opposition members, including the Biju Janata Dal (BJD) and Congress MLAs, who raised concerns over various issues.

As soon as the House convened, opposition members stalled the proceedings, demanding justice for women engaged as Master Book Keepers (MBK), Bank Mitras, Logistic Service Providers (LSP), Community Resource Persons (CRP), Krushi Mitras, and Prani Mitras.

Amid the noisy scenes, Speaker Surama Padhy found it challenging to conduct business and adjourned the House until 11:30 AM. When the Question Hour commenced, BJD MLAs insisted on discussing the matter through an adjournment motion, urging immediate attention to the plight of the protesting women. As tensions escalated, BJD legislators rushed to the well of the House, stalling proceedings, and were soon joined by Congress members.

After the adjournment, senior BJD MLA Pramila Mallik addressed the media, criticizing the BJP government for ignoring the demands of hundreds of women protesting at Lower PMG. She highlighted that while these women endure sleepless nights in harsh winter conditions, the government remains indifferent to their struggles. Mallik also mentioned that a BJD delegation would soon meet the agitating women to discuss their grievances.
