weather news: Bhubaneswar, (Reporterspen), Dec 12: Winter chill has returned to Odisha as temperatures dropped below 10 degrees Celsius in several regions over the past 24 hours. The hill station of G Udayagiri in Kandhamal district recorded the lowest night temperature at 9.2 degrees Celsius, signaling a significant chill in the air.
Following closely were Rourkela at 10.2 degrees Celsius, Jharsuguda at 10.4 degrees Celsius, and Kirei in Sundargarh at 10.7 degrees Celsius. In the twin cities of Cuttack and Bhubaneswar, temperatures were slightly higher, registering 13.6 degrees Celsius and 15 degrees Celsius, respectively.
According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), the temperature in Bhubaneswar may drop to around 14 degrees Celsius in the next 24 hours. While no significant changes in night temperatures are expected over the next four to five days, the IMD has issued a warning for dense fog in some areas of Sundargarh district until Friday morning. Additionally, shallow to moderate fog is likely in Jharsuguda, Ganjam, Kalahandi, Koraput, Kandhamal, Sundargarh, Sambalpur, and Bargarh until Sunday morning, affecting visibility and travel conditions in these regions.
