weather news: Bhubaneswar, (Reporterspen), Dec 16: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has warned that the ongoing cold wave in Odisha will persist until the morning of December 17.
A yellow warning has been issued for Jharsuguda, Sundargarh, Jagatsinghpur, and Angul districts. Additionally, dense fog is expected in isolated areas of Koraput and Kandhamal until December 18 morning, while shallow to moderate fog may occur in Kalahandi and Sundargarh.
IMD predicts a rise in night temperatures by 3–5°C after 24 hours, attributed to rainfall activity influenced by a low-pressure system over the southeast Bay of Bengal. This system is likely to intensify and move west-northwest towards Tamil Nadu over the next two days, bringing easterly winds laden with moisture into Odisha.
Rainfall predictions include light rain at one or two places in Ganjam and Gajapati on December 17, and Ganjam, Gajapati, and Puri on December 18. Light to moderate rain is expected in several districts, including Jagatsinghpur, Khurda, and Rayagada, from December 19 to 21.
