Parliament news: Bhubaneswar, (Reporterspen), Dec 19: BJP MP Pratap Sarangi, a former Union Minister from Odisha, sustained injuries, including a head wound, during a protest by the INDIA bloc inside the Parliament premises on Thursday. Sarangi alleged that the Leader of Opposition, Rahul Gandhi, pushed another MP, who then fell on him.

In a statement to reporters, Sarangi described the incident, saying, “Rahul Gandhi pushed an MP who fell on me, causing me to fall down. I was standing near the stairs when it happened.” BJP spokesperson Shehzad Poonawalla condemned the actions of Congress, claiming that they resorted to violence after spreading falsehoods. He called for a First Information Report (FIR) against Rahul Gandhi for allegedly endangering Sarangi’s life and urged the Speaker of the House to take action against what he termed “hooliganism.”

In response to the accusations, Rahul Gandhi claimed that he was the one who was pushed by BJP MPs. “I was trying to enter Parliament when BJP MPs tried to stop me and threatened me,” he explained. He emphasized the right of opposition members to enter Parliament, asserting that the core issue is the attack on the Constitution and the disrespect shown toward the legacy of B.R. Ambedkar.
