weather news: Bhubaneswar, (Reporterspen), Dec 23: After experiencing untimely rains for two consecutive days last week, Odisha is bracing for another round of heavy showers as a well-marked low-pressure area in the Southwest and adjoining Westcentral Bay of Bengal is expected to move toward the southwestern Bay of Bengal near the northern Tamil Nadu and southern Andhra Pradesh coasts around Tuesday.

According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), the current system is located over the Southwest and adjoining Westcentral Bay of Bengal, off the coasts of South Andhra Pradesh and North Tamil Nadu. It is anticipated to move west-southwestward, reaching the southwest Bay of Bengal near the Tamil Nadu and Andhra Pradesh coasts on December 24.

The weather agency has also predicted a gradual drop in night temperatures by 2 to 4 degrees Celsius over the next two days. Light to moderate rain is expected to resume in many areas of South Coastal Odisha, with one or two places in North Coastal Odisha also likely to see rain.

Additionally, shallow to moderate fog may develop in Kandhamal, Rayagada, Koraput, Balangir, Bargarh, and Sonepur districts. On December 24, rainfall intensity is set to increase, with heavy rain predicted for Gajapati, Ganjam, Jagatsinghpur, Kendrapara, and Koraput districts. Light to moderate rain may also occur in several other districts, including Khurda, Puri, and Balasore.
