odisha news: Bhubaneswar, (Reporterspen), Dec 30: The Odisha government is actively preparing to implement both the Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana and the Gopabandhu Jan Arogya Yojana (GJAY) in February 2025.

Health and Family Welfare Minister Mukesh Mahaling made this announcement on Monday, highlighting that the initiative aims to provide health cards to over 3.5 crore residents of the state, ensuring that no one is left without access to essential health insurance schemes.

Minister Mahaling noted that a Central team has already conducted a survey to facilitate the implementation of the Ayushman Bharat scheme in Odisha. In addition to these initiatives, he emphasized the government’s commitment to strengthening the healthcare sector by increasing the number of medical and nursing colleges in the state in the coming year.

An MoU is expected to be signed soon for the joint implementation of Ayushman Bharat and GJAY, aimed at delivering free healthcare services to economically vulnerable families. Beneficiaries will receive special health cards, enabling them to access free medical treatment at over 27,000 empanelled hospitals both within Odisha and across the nation, thereby enhancing healthcare access for the state’s most needy populations.
