Odisha news: Bhubaneswar, (Reporterspen), Jan 2: The mutilated body of a young man was found near the railway tracks close to the Poonama Gate area in Bhubaneswar on Thursday, prompting allegations of murder from his family. The deceased has been identified as Swaraj Behera, a resident of Gosagareswar Chowk in the Old Town area of the state capital.

Locals discovered Swaraj’s body, which exhibited deep wounds and cuts on his back and body, and quickly alerted his family. While the exact cause of death is still under investigation, family members claim he was brutally attacked and murdered, as his body bore significant injury marks consistent with a sharp weapon. They suspect he may have been killed elsewhere and that his body was discarded near the railway tracks to simulate a suicide.

Swaraj’s cousin stated that the family has filed a police complaint and is awaiting the examination of his call records and CCTV footage to clarify the circumstances surrounding his death. Another local who assisted in recovering the body noted deep cuts on the back of Swaraj’s head, suggesting he may have been attacked with a weapon like a sword. Additionally, the rest of his body displayed scratches and a wound near the abdomen.

Family members expressed frustration, claiming they are caught between two police stations, as the Government Railway Police (GRP) and Airfield Police attempt to pass responsibility for the investigation.
