Odisha news: Senior IAS officer Manoj Kumar Sahoo takes role as Private Secretary to CM

Odisha news: Bhubaneswar, (Reporterspen), Jan 4: Senior IAS officer Manoj Kumar Sahoo has been appointed as the Private Secretary to the Chief Minister of Odisha, effective Saturday. Sahoo, a 2006 batch IAS officer, is currently serving as the Special Secretary to Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi.

According to a notification from the General Administration and Public Grievance department, the position of Private Secretary to the Odisha Chief Minister is equivalent in status and responsibility to that of Special Secretary within the IAS cadre of the state.

Just last month, Sahoo was appointed as Special Secretary to the Chief Minister. Additionally, in November 2024, the Centre approved his inter-cadre deputation to Odisha for a period of three years.

Sahoo, an IAS officer from the Arunachal Pradesh, Goa, Mizoram, and Union Territories (AGMUT) cadre, previously served as Deputy Election Commissioner at the Election Commission office in Delhi. A native of Singapur village in the Balikuda block of Jagatsinghpur district, he completed his BSc from Orissa University of Agriculture and Technology, Bhubaneswar. Notably, Sahoo was the first Odia to hold the position of Deputy Election Commissioner, which he assumed in November 2022.
