odisha news: Bhubaneswar, (Reporterspen), Jan 11: In a proud moment for Odisha, three players from the state have been selected to represent India in the inaugural Kho Kho World Cup, scheduled to be held at the Indira Gandhi Stadium, New Delhi, from January 13 to 19.

Pabani Sabar will represent the Men’s Indian Kho Kho team, while Magai Majhi and Subhashree Sing have been selected for the Women’s team. The tournament will feature 20 men’s teams and 19 women’s teams, making it a historic event in the sport’s history.

The trio has been undergoing rigorous training at the Odisha AM/NS Kho Kho High Performance Centre (HPC) for the past eight months under the mentorship of Coach Sanjeev Sharma, who praised their dedication. “I’ve worked closely with these players for over three years. Pabani, in particular, is an outstanding all-rounder and a key member of the Gold-winning team at the Ultimate Kho Kho Tournament,” he said.

Earlier this month, the Odisha government announced its sponsorship of the national Kho Kho team from January 2025 to December 2027, reflecting its commitment to promoting the sport.
