odisha news: Bhubaneswar, (Reporterspen), Jan 14: The Odisha government has announced a thorough investigation into allegations of irregularities in the Biju Swasthya Kalyan Yojana (BSKY), a health insurance scheme launched by the previous BJD government.

Law Minister Prithviraj Harichandan stated that despite the availability of BSKY cards, many beneficiaries were denied access to services, and several patients were exploited. Harichandan alleged widespread corruption, with hospitals charging arbitrary bills and individuals linked to the previous government involved in irregularities.

To address these concerns, the government has decided to investigate all aspects of the scheme’s implementation.

The announcement coincides with the Odisha government signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to join the Central government’s Ayushman Bharat Yojana. Under the integration, the state’s Gopabandhu Jan Arogya Yojana will be merged with Ayushman Bharat, benefiting over 1.03 crore families in Odisha.

Eligible beneficiaries will now receive a single bilingual health card, streamlining access to healthcare under both schemes.
