odisha news: Bhubaneswar, (Reporterspen), Jan 20: The Odisha government is set to roll out a comprehensive housing survey under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY) starting January 24, announced Panchayati Raj Minister Rabi Narayan Naik on Monday.

The survey will include individuals who have separated from their families, such as sons living apart from their parents or wives residing independently from their husbands. Applicants who were previously excluded or are awaiting house allotments can also reapply.

Minister Naik emphasized that the application process has been simplified, with beneficiaries able to apply through Panchayat offices, a mobile application, or an online portal, which will be activated on the survey’s first day. Application fees have been removed to encourage participation.

The survey, expected to last six to eight weeks, aims to address housing needs comprehensively. The total number of houses under PMAY has been increased from two crore to three crore.

Naik also highlighted that 50,963 pending applications will be considered, adding to the 23 lakh homes already constructed out of 28.25 lakh approved.
