weather news: Bhubaneswar, (Reporterspen), Feb 11: Jharsuguda in Odisha recorded a significant rise of 4.2°C in night temperature over the past 24 hours due to an approaching western disturbance and moisture incursions from an anti-cyclonic circulation over the Bay of Bengal.
Senior meteorologist Umasankar Das explained the temperature shift in a post on X, highlighting that the industrial town had experienced a dip of over 8°C in night temperatures in the last three days.
On Tuesday, Jharsuguda recorded 14.4°C, up from 11.2°C the previous day. G Udayagiri reported the lowest minimum temperature at 9.8°C, followed by Phulbani (11.5°C) and Rourkela (13.2°C), which was 3.6°C higher than Monday. The twin cities of Bhubaneswar and Cuttack recorded 19.8°C and 18.2°C, respectively, compared to 17.9°C and 18°C the previous day.
Odisha also experienced a rise in daytime temperatures on Monday, with Jharsuguda reaching 34.8°C, followed by Sambalpur (34°C) and Bhubaneswar (33°C) at 2:40 PM. This marked an increase from the previous day’s temperatures of 33°C, 31.2°C, and 31.6°C, respectively.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast that night temperatures will remain steady for the next two days, with a potential dip of 2-4°C in the following days.
Additionally, shallow to moderate fog is expected during the early morning hours in parts of Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapada, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Khurda, Nayagarh, Ganjam, Gajapati, Koraput, Malkangiri, and Mayurbhanj until February 14.
