Assembly news: Bhubaneswar, (Reporterspen) Feb 17: Under fire from the opposition over the alleged physical assault of an Assistant Section Officer (ASO) by former Governor Raghubar Das’ son in Puri last year, the Odisha government on Monday stated that no written complaint has been lodged with the police so far.
Addressing the state Assembly, Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi said that ASO Baikuntha Pradhan has not yet submitted any written complaint to the police regarding the alleged incident. The CM was responding to a question raised by BJD MLA Pratap Keshari Deb about the filing of a complaint and subsequent police action.
Majhi, who holds the Home portfolio, informed the House that no written complaint had been received at Puri’s Sea Beach Police Station regarding the alleged physical assault and torture on July 10, 2024. However, an online complaint (No. 24502038072400067) was filed by Baikuntha Pradhan on July 12, 2024, through the Crime and Criminal Tracking Network and Systems (CCTNS), which is currently under investigation.
Pradhan had earlier alleged that he was assaulted by Lalit Kumar, son of the then Governor Raghubar Das, at Puri Raj Bhavan on July 7, 2024, while on duty during President Droupadi Murmu’s visit for the Rath Yatra.
