Odisha Congress: Bhubaneswar, (Reporterspen), Feb 18: In a bid to rejuvenate the party in Odisha, the Odisha Pradesh Congress Committee (OPCC) launched the ‘Sankalpa Padayatra’ from Bhubaneswar to Puri on Tuesday. Led by the newly appointed OPCC president, Bhakta Charan Das, the march is aimed at reconnecting with party leaders, workers, and supporters to strengthen the Congress’s presence at the grassroots level.
The padayatra began from Biju Patnaik International Airport (BPIA) shortly after Bhakta Das arrived from Delhi. Hundreds of Congress workers and leaders participated, carrying party flags and banners as they proceeded through key city locations, including Shishu Bhavan Chhak, Rajmahal Square, Kalpana Square, and Ravi Talkies Square before reaching Lingipur in the afternoon.
Following a lunch break, the rally continued towards Pipili, where participants spent the night. Former MLA Debasis Patnaik, who heads the special committee overseeing the padayatra, stated that the march would resume on Wednesday morning, covering the route to Chandanpur by evening.
After an overnight halt at Chandanpur, the Congress team will proceed to Puri, stopping for lunch at ‘Bata Mangala’ before reaching the Shree Jagannath Temple, where Bhakta Charan Das will offer prayers to Lord Jagannath, Balabhadra, and Subhadra, seeking divine blessings for the party’s revival.
