CBI raids : Bhubaneswar, (Reporterspen), Feb 19: A team from the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) conducted a raid at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), Bhubaneswar, on Wednesday over an alleged recruitment scam involving forged documents.

The central probe agency initiated the operation following allegations that some individuals had secured jobs at AIIMS Bhubaneswar using fake credentials. Sources said a nine-member CBI team arrived in the morning and interrogated at least 27 people, including permanent employees. The officials also examined several documents related to the appointments.

According to reports, five members of a single family, residing in Bhubaneswar, allegedly obtained permanent jobs at AIIMS Bhubaneswar in 2023 and 2024 by submitting fake documents claiming residency in Ghaziabad and Gorakhpur. The appointments were for the posts of two sanitary inspectors and three record clerks.

Investigations revealed that the individuals were initially hired on a contractual basis by an outsourcing agency. One person associated with this agency, suspected to be the mastermind behind the scam, has come under CBI scrutiny for allegedly orchestrating the fraudulent appointments of his family members.

The CBI is expected to widen its probe and verify whether more such irregularities have occurred.
