Aparajita Sarangi appointed Vice Chairperson of Asia Pacific Group at IPU

Bhubaneswar, (Reporterspen), July 24: Bhubaneswar MP Aparajita Sarangi has been appointed as the Vice Chairperson of the Asia Pacific Group of the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU).

Sarangi was nominated by the IPU Executive Committee and announced her appointment via social media, sharing a message from Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla. The Asia Pacific Group comprises MPs from the IPU, and Sarangi’s term as Vice Chairperson will run until October 2026.

Sarangi, who is also a member of the IPU Executive Committee, actively participated in the IPU Assembly held in Geneva in March 2024.

On Twitter, Sarangi expressed her gratitude: “During the 148th IPU Assembly in Geneva in March 2024, I was nominated as Vice President of the IPU representing the Asia Pacific Group. I received this intimation from @LokSabhaSectt. I am humbled.”

In addition to her new role, Sarangi has been appointed to the House Committee, a 12-member panel chaired by Dr. Mahesh Sharma, as announced by Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla.
