BJD leader and associates arrested for attacking MCL Manager

Bhubaneswar, (Reporterspen), July 26: On Friday, police arrested four individuals, including Biju Janata Dal (BJD) leader and former sarpanch Parbati Behera, for allegedly assaulting an official of Mahanadi Coalfields Limited (MCL) with a shoe the previous day. The incident occurred at MCL’s Bandabahal office in the Lakhanpur block and came to public attention after a video of the assault went viral.

The four suspects were apprehended following a complaint lodged by the victim, Sanjay Jha, the general manager of MCL coal mines. Jha reported that Behera, along with three accomplices, forcibly entered his office and physically attacked him using a shoe.

The viral video shows Behera in a heated exchange with the MCL official, which escalates into violence. During the attack, Behera is heard instructing her associates to record the incident and expressing her willingness to face any resulting police action. This shocking display of aggression has drawn significant attention and led to the swift arrest of the perpetrators.
