Police arrest two laborers for alleged gang rape and captivity in Rourkela

Bhubaneswar, (Reporterspen), July 26: Two laborers have been arrested in Rourkela, Odisha, for allegedly raping a young woman over several days while holding her captive.

The Plant Site Police apprehended the suspects based on the woman’s statement. The accused, both daily wage workers, reportedly transported the victim, also a daily laborer from Bonai, to a hotel in Rourkela where the alleged crimes took place.

According to sources, the woman was held captive for multiple days and subjected to repeated gang rapes. The perpetrators later abandoned her and fled.

The victim was found wandering near Rourkela railway station, where police rescued her. She recounted her harrowing experience to the authorities, who then took her for a medical examination and initiated an investigation. The victim was subsequently sent to the Sakhi Centre, which provides support for survivors of violence.

Based on her detailed statement, both suspects have been arrested, and the police are continuing their investigation into the case.
