accident: Bhubaneswar, (Reporterspen), Jan 1: A tragic accident occurred near Jobra Barrage in Cuttack city, Odisha, on Wednesday, resulting in the death of a six-year-old girl and leaving her uncle critically injured.
The incident unfolded when the girl was riding as a pillion passenger on a scooter with her uncle, who lost control when a Hyva truck collided with their two-wheeler. The force of the impact caused them to lose their balance, and sadly, the truck ran over the young girl.
Both victims were immediately rushed to SCB Medical College and Hospital, but despite medical efforts, the girl was pronounced dead upon arrival. Her uncle remains hospitalized, where he is receiving treatment for his injuries.
The accident sparked outrage among local residents, who gathered at the scene to express their grief and anger, subsequently blocking the road and disrupting vehicular traffic. Authorities from the Malgodam police station arrived to manage the situation, seizing the truck involved in the incident. An investigation into the circumstances surrounding the accident is currently underway.
