accident : Bhubaneswar, (Reporterspen), Dec 10: Three labourers tragically lost their lives when a speeding bus struck them on National Highway 53 near Khairamunda village in Odisha’s Dhenkanal district on Tuesday. The deceased have been identified as Sagar Pradhan (24), Sumant Parida (55), and Soumya Ranjan Sahu (19), all residents of Naupalakateni village.
According to eyewitnesses, the accident occurred as the trio was traveling on a motorcycle to Khairamunda village for house construction work. Sagar died instantly from the impact, while Soumya and Sumant were rushed to the Parjang Community Health Centre for urgent medical care. Unfortunately, both succumbed to their injuries while receiving treatment.
Following the incident, tensions escalated in the area as locals protested, demanding compensation for the bereaved families. This led to a blockade that disrupted vehicular movement between Talcher and Duburi, causing significant traffic delays.
Upon receiving reports of the situation, police arrived at the scene to manage the crowd and restore normalcy. The bus involved in the tragic accident has been seized for further investigation as authorities look into the circumstances surrounding this devastating event.
