Accident: Bhubaneswar, (Reporterspen), Feb 24: In a tragic accident, a woman lost her life while her husband and young son sustained injuries after their scooter was hit by a sand-laden truck at Tanimuhana Chhak in Odisha’s Kendrapada district on Monday.
The deceased has been identified as Shraddhanjali Prusty, a resident of Baniamala village. According to sources, the accident occurred when the family was on their way to drop their son at a play school. The speeding truck allegedly dashed against their scooter, causing the woman to die on the spot, while her husband and son suffered injuries.
Following the incident, the truck driver fled the scene, leaving the victims behind. Local police have launched an effort to trace and identify the driver. Meanwhile, enraged locals staged a protest, blocking the road and demanding justice for the deceased’s family. They also urged authorities to impose restrictions on the movement of heavy vehicles, particularly those involved in sand transportation, to prevent such mishaps.
Upon receiving information, a police team rushed to the spot and initiated an investigation. The injured victims were shifted to a nearby hospital, while efforts continue to ensure strict action against the driver.
