Additional Civil Supplies Officer in Odisha arrested for unexplained wealth

Bhubaneswar, (Reporterspen), Aug 17: The Odisha Vigilance on Saturday arrested Pradeep Kumar Mohapatra, the Additional Civil Supplies Officer of Kendrapada, on charges of possessing assets disproportionate to his known income. The arrest followed simultaneous searches conducted by Vigilance officials at multiple locations linked to Mohapatra.

During the searches, Vigilance officials discovered a range of assets that Mohapatra could not satisfactorily explain. These assets included properties such as buildings in Bhubaneswar and Cuttack, expensive plots in these cities, a substantial amount of gold, significant bank deposits, and a considerable sum of cash.

Mohapatra has been taken into custody and will be presented in court. A case has been registered against him, and the investigation is ongoing.

Among the assets uncovered were a double-storey building in Bhubaneswar, a building in Cuttack, prime land plots in both cities, mutual fund deposits, and a four-wheeler along with two two-wheelers. Additionally, a locker operated by his spouse at a bank is yet to be examined.
